Droppin' it Like it's Yacht for VCU Massey Cancer Center

Talk about a perfect afternoon! We hung out with some of our favorite RVA businesses, enjoyed gorgeous views from the beautiful Kabana rooftop bar, saw a mermaid swim in a pristine pool, and did fun updos and dry trims -- all to raise money for a great cause!! It just doesn't get any better than this. Thank you, Yelp Richmond, for inviting us to participate in your amazing "Drop it Like it's Yacht" fundraiser. #yelpformassey

So much love to go around -- Yelp loves KBS loves Yelp!

We're still smiling about all the fun we had with the RVA Yelp Elites Event we hosted! It was a Katie-Blue-B-Q with hot cuts & smokin butts (pork barbecue, that is. . . ). We met 18 new friends and had a blast. Thanks to all who came, and we can't wait to see you again real soon!

Haircuts, blowouts, and food fit for kings and queens! Thank you to Katie Blue Salon for providing cuts and blowouts for our Elites! More special thanks go out to Deep Run Roadhouse and The Dog Wagon for supplying the delicious eats.

On the trail in 2015

As we close out 2015, we want to take a hot second to recognize the true stars of our salon. We are so grateful for our True Blue clients who stop by each and every day. Not only do you help us perfect our craft and keep doing what we love, you make it fun!

This year brought a lot of changes to Katie Blue Salon as we redesigned our logo and revamped our interior, decking it out with a cozy western theme. We also hit the trail and got involved in the RVA community, offering services at drastically reduced prices with all profits going to benefit local causes.

In January we set up a pop up salon in the Martin Agency downtown, offering cuts and styles to employees in exchange for a donation to Martin Makes a Difference.

In April we traveled down to the VCU campus at The Brandcenter, giving students a splash of style, and donating profits to the James River Association.

And who could miss joining in the fun at the annual Carytown Watermelon Festival? We created $10 updos benefitting Ring Dog Rescue.

Our last trip of the year was over to Mary Munford Elementary for Spooky Saturday, where we gave the kids “scary hair” for Halloween and raised money for the PTA.

We loved getting out and about to help RVA, so you’ll definitely catch us taking even more stylist field trips in 2016!

Thanks to Carmen Doherty Photography for the great images taken at the Martin Agency and VCU Brandcenter.
