Katie Blue Salon is home to independent stylists, and each stylist sets their own schedule—so hours and availability can vary day to day.
While you’re always welcome to stop by and see if someone happens to be available, walk-in appointments can’t be guaranteed and are often limited, as many of our stylists book in advance. For the best experience, we strongly recommend booking directly with your preferred stylist ahead of time.
-
Nope, no parking lot—but the good news is, there’s plenty of free street parking right in front of the salon!

Yes! If you prefer a silent or low-conversation appointment, Stef, Kate, and Theron are happy to offer this option.

Yes—Katie Blue Salon is an inclusive, judgment-free space, and all genders are welcome. Because our stylists are independent, the types of services they offer can vary.

Balayage is a French word for "sweeping," and it’s all about hand-painting highlights onto your hair for a super natural, sun-kissed look. Instead of uniform highlights, balayage gives you that effortlessly blended, “just spent a summer at the beach” vibe. Bonus: it grows out beautifully, so you don’t have to worry about harsh roots!
-
Balayage is a technique, not a specific look. It involves hand-painting color onto the hair in soft, sweeping motions to create a natural, sun-kissed effect. This technique gives a soft blend with your natural hair color and tends to grow out seamlessly, making it a great low-maintenance option.
Highlights, on the other hand, are created using foils to apply color closer to the roots in defined sections, resulting in a more uniform, higher-contrast look.
Sometimes, achieving the look in your inspiration photo may require a combination of balayage and foiling techniques. Your stylist will customize the approach to bring your vision to life while keeping your hair healthy and beautiful. Not sure which is right for you? Book a consultation, and we’ll help you create your dream look!

Yes. Katie Blue Salon is home to stylists with experience working across a range of curl patterns. Because our stylists are independent, curl expertise varies by stylist.
Epiphany & Grayson work confidently with all curl types (2–4), including tighter textures and highly coiled hair.
Kate and Lauren work with curl types 2 and 3 and are great options for waves and looser curl patterns.
We recommend checking each stylist’s bio for details about their curl experience, and if you’re unsure of your curl type, feel free to reach out—we’re happy to help guide you.

We get it! Curly hair is an art form, and our team treats it that way. If you want to see for yourself, check out our work on Instagram at @KatieBlueSalon or reach out to your preferred stylist for a consultation.

We believe curls should be treated with the respect they deserve! Our stylists usually start with a dry cut to shape your curls just right, then they’ll wash, style with curly-specific products, and finish with a diffuser to give you that perfect set. After it’s dry, they might do a few final snips to make sure every curl falls perfectly!

Determining your curl pattern starts with understanding the curl type system, which ranges from 1 (straight) to 4 (coily), with subcategories (A, B, C) based on the tightness of the curls. Here’s how to find yours:
Start with Clean, Product-Free Hair:
Wash and condition your hair, then let it air-dry without adding any products. This shows your natural curl pattern without interference.Observe Your Hair’s Shape:
Type 2 (Wavy): Loose, S-shaped waves.
Type 3 (Curly): More defined curls with an S or corkscrew shape.
Type 4 (Coily): Tight, zig-zag curls or coils.
Check the Curl Tightness:
A: Looser curls or waves.
B: Medium-tight curls or waves.
C: Tightest, most compact curls or coils.
Consider Variations:
Many people have more than one curl pattern across their head, so you may be a mix of types.
If you're unsure or want help identifying and caring for your curls, book a free 15 minute consultation with one of our stylists! We’d love to help you embrace and enhance your natural texture.
