If you’ve read through the bios and still aren’t sure who’s the best fit, you’re more than welcome to reach out to our Salon Director via our contact form for a quick mini consult. We’ll help match you with the stylist best suited to your hair type, goals, and vibe.
Because our stylists are independent, you’ll book directly with your matched stylist once we point you in the right direction.

Katie Blue Salon is home to independent stylists, and each stylist sets their own schedule—so hours and availability can vary day to day.
While you’re always welcome to stop by and see if someone happens to be available, walk-in appointments can’t be guaranteed and are often limited, as many of our stylists book in advance. For the best experience, we strongly recommend booking directly with your preferred stylist ahead of time.
-
Nope, no parking lot—but the good news is, there’s plenty of free street parking right in front of the salon!

Yes! If you prefer a silent or low-conversation appointment, we’re happy to offer this option.
If booking online, simply write “silent appointment” in the notes section. If booking by phone or text, just mention your preference when scheduling.
-
Yes! We proudly offer gender-affirming hair services and have always been a welcoming, supportive space for the LGBTQ+ community. Whether you’re looking for a new style that feels more like you or simply want to feel comfortable and confident in the salon, you’re welcome here.

Yes. Katie Blue Salon is home to stylists with experience working across a range of curl patterns. Because our stylists are independent, curl expertise varies by stylist.
Kate and Lauren work with curl types 2 and 3 and are great options for waves and looser curl patterns.
We recommend checking each stylist’s bio for details about their curl experience, and if you’re unsure of your curl type, feel free to reach out—we’re happy to help guide you.
-
We get it! Curly hair is an art form, and our team treats it that way. If you want to see for yourself, check out our work on Instagram at @KatieBlueSalon or reach out to your preferred stylist for a consultation.

Determining your curl pattern starts with understanding the curl type system, which ranges from 1 (straight) to 4 (coily), with subcategories (A, B, C) based on the tightness of the curls. Here’s how to find yours:
Start with Clean, Product-Free Hair:
Wash and condition your hair, then let it air-dry without adding any products. This shows your natural curl pattern without interference.Observe Your Hair’s Shape:
Type 2 (Wavy): Loose, S-shaped waves.
Type 3 (Curly): More defined curls with an S or corkscrew shape.
Type 4 (Coily): Tight, zig-zag curls or coils.
Check the Curl Tightness:
A: Looser curls or waves.
B: Medium-tight curls or waves.
C: Tightest, most compact curls or coils.
Consider Variations:
Many people have more than one curl pattern across their head, so you may be a mix of types.
If you're unsure or want help identifying and caring for your curls, book a free 15 minute consultation with one of our stylists! We’d love to help you embrace and enhance your natural texture.

While we deeply respect and understand your preferences, our boutique salon features a small, open floor plan with both male and female stylists and guests sharing the space. Unfortunately, we’re unable to provide fully private appointments. However, we’d be happy to recommend some excellent stylists in the area who operate private studios and can accommodate your needs. Please feel free to reach out for referrals—we’re here to help!

Our stylists are independent artists and each works with the professional color lines they know and trust best. Because of this, product brands may vary from stylist to stylist.
If you have specific preferences or medical needs—such as ingredient sensitivities, allergies, or requirements for ammonia-free or alternative formulations—we recommend reaching out directly to your preferred stylist. They’ll be happy to let you know which brands they use and discuss the best options for your hair.
We curate our favorite retail products from a variety of top brands to offer the best options for our clients. In-house, we carry select products from Unite, Curl Junkie, Davines, Aluram, and more.
To make high-quality hair care accessible, we offer both luxury products and budget-friendly salon-grade options. This way, you can choose what works best for your hair and your wallet without compromising on quality.
We’re always experimenting with new products to ensure we’re bringing you the best. PLUS, if there’s a specific product or brand you’d like to try, we’re happy to special order it for you.
